BY LAWS

 

I. APPAREL

A. ASA powder blue shirt or Metro Richmond ASA Upiires Association, Inc.  powder blue polo shirt.

B. Navy blue pants.

C. Navy blue "coaches" shorts with belt loops or navy blue dress shorts.

D. Navy blue socks (with pants) white or black socks with shorts.

E. ASA navy blue jacket.

F. Black shoes.

G. Belt (pants and dress shorts) must be black.

H. ASA blue ball bag.

I. Working an assigned multiple crew; only an approved ASA class A uniform can be worn.

J. Any item deleted from the approved list of ASA uniforms may be worn for a period not to exceed two (2) years.

Exceptions:

            ASA hat is optional

            ASA blue ball bag optional

            Enforcement of uniform:

                   1st time violation one (1) game fee fine.

                   2nd time violation three

                   3 time violation (3)  game fine and brought before the Board of Directors..

 

II. REPORTING

Be on field in advance of scheduled game time (ten minutes) to see that field is in proper condition and endeavor to get game started promptly. Umpire shall leave the premises immediately after the assignment is completed.

 

III. ASSIGNMENTS

A. Assignments shall be through the assignor and no umpire shall solicit or accept assignments except through the assignor. Umpires who are unable to cover an assignment must return the games to the assignor and will be assessed a game fee if turned in within 24 hours of assignment. No umpire shall work any game in a league in which said umpire is participating. No umpire shall work any game in the greater Richmond area for less than assignment rates or with person who is not a member of the association without the specific approval of the Board of Directors.  All games covered must be ASA.  Any missed game shall result in a fine equal to the game fee

B. Games turned in.

If someone cannot get the assignor when he has to turn in a game, a member of the Board of Directors would be the one to handle this and if so, would receive the assigning fee for the games.

 

 

IV. CONDUCT

Umpires shall not:

1. Publicly criticize the work of another member

2. Accept gifts from any team or team representatives

3. Direct obscene or abusive language to players or spectators

4. Take part in any physical contact. Umpire may defend self if attacked but shall never be the aggressor

5. Use alcoholic beverages immediately preceding or during an assigned game

6. Use illegal drugs at any time or use tobacco products during the assignrd game.

 

Anyone breaching the conduct code may be brought before the Board of Directors. 

 

V. DUES

            

                     1.  Dues shall be $20, $ 5 for inactive members for the period of January 1st through Decemebr 31st.

                     2.  A late charge of $ 5.00 will be assessed if paid after the date of the first meeting.

                     3.  Anyone who wants to go from inactive to active status must meet all requirements for active status 

                          and petion the Board of Directors.

 

VI.  AMENDMENTS

 

    

These bylaws may be amended by a two thirds 2/3 vote of the members present at any duly called meeting; notice of such change having been given at least two (2) weeks prior to such meeting.
